Privacy Statement - Digital and You Application

The State Library of Queensland (State Library) is subject to privacy legislation which applies to the Queensland public sector — the Information Privacy Act 2009 (the Information Privacy Act). The Information Privacy Act contains a number of privacy principles that set out how agencies must handle personal information.

• Your notification settings, which may include reminders for registered events and alerts for upcoming events near your location

How We Use Your Data

Your privacy is important to us, and we use your personal information to:

• Provide and improve our services to you, including registration and participation in events
• Send you reminders and notifications based on your settings to keep you informed about events you have registered for or might be interested in
• Administer and manage our platform's user interface for enhanced experience

How Your Data Is Shared

We may share your personal data for specific purposes as follows:

• The State Library of Queensland may view your information, including full name, email address, and specified location.
• Local Library/Indigenous Knowledge Centre staff may access your full name and email address to manage events you have registered for.
• Event facilitators will view your full name and a masked email (partially obscured for privacy) for events you've signed up for.
• Stakeholders of the State Library of Queensland Digital Inclusion program may receive aggregated data that is removed of all personal identification information (depersonalised) for reporting and analysis.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access and update your personal information
• Change your notification and privacy settings
• Request deletion of your personal data, subject to necessary retention for legal or operational purposes

We highly encourage you to manage your privacy settings within the mobile application to maintain control over your personal information.

Changes to This Privacy Statement

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Statement from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes and we encourage you to review this statement periodically for the latest information on our privacy practices.

Under the Information Privacy Act, you are entitled to access any personal information that State Library holds about you, and to ask us to update personal information we hold about you.

To access, review and/or amend your personal information, please contact us via rti@slq.qld.gov.au. There is no fee to access or update your own personal information, but please note that in order to access your personal information, you will be required to provide proof of your identity.
